It was with tongue in cheek sadness that Terralogic learned today of the passing of one of the original ruggedised laptops they supplied.

The unit, an original Toughnote, was in use with Queens University and has finally reached the end of its life after 8 years of active and dedicated service.

This tribute was paid by one of the units users :

"Our Toughnote which has passed away 8 years of use has been described by a colleague as being the only ruggedized computer we have used that did just what we expected it to do! The Toughnote was good value, and with the best standard (and optional) port choices available was possibly the only affordable computer that offered both the capacity and robustness required for our marine survey and instrumentation applications. I hope the new one measures up!"

While mourning the passing, Terralogic are happy to be supplying Queens University with a replacement Toughnote Series D-15 - the latest state of the art Duo Core Toughnote - so Queens University can look forward to another 8 years of trouble free rugged computing.
